EMPLOYEES OF MDF MECHANICAL LIMITED RATIFY FIRST COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT

October 2, 2018 – Concord, ON – Employees of MDF Mechanical Limited ratified their first Collective Agreement with the BUC by a margin of over 94%. This first Agreement includes Employer contributions of six percent of gross earnings into the BUC Pension Plan, Employer contributions into the BUC Health Benefits Plan, $200.00/year boot allowance and total hourly wage rate increases of over 10%.

MDF directly employs Plumbers and Apprentices, Gasfitters, Sheetmetal, Welders, Refrigeration Mechanics and Labourers who perform work in all sectors of construction in Ontario. “We accomplished our goal in these negotiations which was to keep the Employer viable in an extremely competitive market while getting the employees a proper increase over-all.” states Stephen Bromell, Secretary Treasure of the BUC. “There is an exciting opportunity for MDF and their employees to grow and we are going to help them get there.”

EMPLOYEES OF GEM-TEC GROUP INC. RATIFY THEIR FIRST COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT

October 12, 2018 – Concord, ON – Employees of Gem-Tec Group Inc. overwhelmingly ratified their first Collective Agreement with the BUC by a margin of over 96%. This first Agreement includes Employer contributions of four percent of gross earnings into the BUC Pension Plan, Employer paid Health Benefits Plan, $200.00/year boot allowance, up to 14% in total vacation pay and a total monetary package increases of over 25%.

Gem-Tec directly employs Electricians and Apprentices who perform work in all sectors of construction in Ontario.

“Once again we accomplished our goals in these negotiations. We worked with the Employer and their employees to negotiate an Agreement that rewards the employees for their skilled and safe work but also keeps the Employer competitive” states Tony Cordeiro, Business Representative of the BUC.  “More and more non-union construction employees are calling us every day wanting to join the BUC because they see how our vision of Labour Relations just makes sense.”

MORRISTON MECHANICAL CONSULTANTS & TECHNICIANS INC. EMPLOYEES JOIN THE BUC

October 4, 2018 – Concord, ON – The Building Union of Canada received a certificate from the Ontario Labour Relations Board which recognizes the BUC as the sole representative of all Morriston Mechanical Consultants & Technicians Inc. employees.

These employees perform work as Electricians, Electricians’ Apprentices, Pipefitters and Plumbers and their respective Apprentices.

“We are very proud to represent these employees as this gives the BUC a lot of diversity in the type of work we can provide to General Contractors through our Union,” says Tony Cordeiro, Business Representative of the BUC.
