THE BUC EXPANDS THEIR BARGAINING RIGHTS TO TORONTO FOR EMPLOYEES OF LANDFORM CIVIL INFRASTRUCTURES INC.

February 13, 2019 – Concord, ON – The Building Union of Canada (BUC) successfully unionized the employees working for Landform Civil Infrastructures Inc. and received a Certificate from the OLRB for these Bargaining Rights for Board Area 2 in Ontario.

During negotiations Landform and the BUC entered into a Minutes of Settlement whereby both parties agreed to expand the BUC Bargaining Rights to include Board Area 8 as well.

Landform directly employs Labourers of all skill levels, Carpenters, Welders and Heavy Equipment Operators who perform work in the Heavy Civil sector of construction in Ontario. Specifically, Landform concentrates their efforts on the restoration and new construction of bridges across Ontario.

“This is another Heavy Civil company that the BUC has Bargaining Rights for that will help Ontario get major infrastructure projects completed safely, on time and under budget.” says Tony Cordeiro, Field Representative, Heavy Civil Division of the BUC.

Tony went on to say, “Although the hourly rates in our Collective Agreements are higher than most other Unions representing workers in the Heavy Civil Sector of construction in Ontario, the BUC doesn’t have the unnecessary overhead monetary burden other unions charge the contractors. This will help the Ontario Government save money on these projects and by extension create a much lower burden on the tax payers of Ontario.”

“We are very excited about how all of our companies will be participating in rebuilding the Ontario infrastructure and doing it in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner for everyone.” says Stephen Bromell, Vice President/Secretary Treasurer of the BUC.
