May 31, 2019 – Concord, ON – The BUC represents all Construction Labourers working for The Daniels Group Inc. including those Labourers that operate Man and Material Hoists.
Approximately two years ago LIUNA attempted to raid the BUC for those Labourers that are operating the Man and Material hoists. The OLRB ruled against LIUNA and in favour of the BUC.
LIUNA wasn’t pleased with the OLRB’s decision and they decided to appeal that decision through the Judicial Review process. That appeal was heard and the court, once again, ruled against LIUNA and in favour of the BUC. The appellate court ruled that LIUNA didn’t go through the proper process of asking the OLRB for reconsideration of their decision so they dismissed LIUNA’s pleadings outright.
“Once again, LIUNA wastes more of their Members’ hard earned money on another one of their ridiculous challenges through the Ontario court system.” says Stephen Bromell, Vice President/Secretary Treasurer of the BUC. “Based on the Toronto Star investigative report on Friday, May 24, 2019, I think LIUNA has more pressing internal issues they need to focus on and repair then just trying to get people and organizations to waste more money on their unmerited cases.
