Tuesday, March 3, 2020 – Concord, ON – On February 7, 2020 The Building Union of Canada (BUC) filed a raid application against the Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC) on behalf of employees working for MTM-2 Contracting Inc. who perform construction work in the Heavy Civil Sector in Ontario.
The ballots were counted at the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) at 11:30 am on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Those employees who were represented by CLAC overwhelmingly voted in favour of the BUC by a count of over 84%.
“These Members reached out to Tony Cordeiro, Field Representative of the BUC because of their concerns for the lack of attention and service they received from their previous Union.” Says Stephen Bromell, Vice President/Secretary Treasurer of the BUC.
“This is an excellent opportunity for the BUC to show these Members how a real partnership should operate” states Tony Cordeiro. “We are very grateful to these employees who showed their trust in the BUC to fix the problem. We are also looking forward to working with MTM-2 to get them the quality workers they need to succeed.”
