This past week the executives at the BUC were informed that several of our members at a location in York Region had to be tested for the virus. Because some of our BUC staff were present at the time we decided as a precaution to get tested also. We attended the BRANSON MEDICAL CENTRE at Bathurst and Finch. Everyone tested in the last week, including members and BUC staff tested negative, so we are all clear.
The entire process took between 60 and 70 minutes in the middle of the day. The medical staff are 100% efficient and professional and our results came back in 48 hours, although they state it could be up to 72 hours.
As we move forward and the industry ramps up to full speed, it is essential that we keep our communication constant.
As of today, we are requesting that anyone that is informed that they need to be tested, to notify the BUC staff immediately. The concern here is that any delay will threaten the health of your co-workers and family members. This applies to Supervisors and Management/Owners as there is a serious risk that even though our members may test negative, some could be a carrier.
The industry is not out of the clear and now is the time for confidence in each other and trust and transparency. Let’s all watch out for one another and keep us safe and healthy for the rest of 2020 and beyond.
