August 23, 2021 – Concord, ON – Employees of Mapleridge Power & Light Co. ratified their Collective Agreement renewal with the BUC by 90%. This renewed Agreement includes a 68% increase in Pension contributions, 11.5% increase in hourly wage rate, new bereavement leave and parental leave language. This equals a total monetary increase of over 13% percent over the next three years.
Mapleridge directly employs Electricians and Apprentices who perform work in all sectors of construction in Ontario. “When we organized these employees three years ago, Mapleridge only employed 24 Journeymen and apprentices. Today, Mapleridge employs over 100 journeymen and apprentices.” states Stephen Bromell, Vice President of the BUC. “This is a clear indication that our partnership approach to Labour Relations is effective.”
